[ Troubleshooting ] Mac - Not Listed

The BTD-300 will not be listed as a Bluetooth device under Mac OS. The Bluetooth Preferences panel will list any Bluetooth device that has been paired the Mac’s Bluetooth adapter, but will not list the adapter itself. To verify that the BTD-300 is being used, follow the steps below:

  1. With the BTD-300 unplugged, click the Apple Menu and choose About This Mac.
  2. In the About This Mac window, choose System Report.
  3. In the System Report window, choose the Bluetooth section.
  4. Copy down the MAC address listed in the Bluetooth section of the System Report. The format should look like, “1A-2B-C3-D4-5E-F6.”
  5. Close the System Report and About This Mac windows, then plug the BTD-300 in.
  6. With the BTD-300 plugged in, click the Apple Menu and choose About This Mac.
  7. In the About This Mac window, choose System Report.
  8. In the System Report window, choose the Bluetooth section.
  9. Compare the MAC address from step 4 to the MAC address from step 8.

If the addresses are different, the BTD-300 was properly detected and will be used for all Bluetooth connections. You may need to delete devices that were paired when the BTD-300 was not being used and re-pair them.

If the addresses match, the BTD-300 is not being used, usually because the Mac was not able to shut off its internal adapter. In that case, please get in touch with our support department for further assistance.
