[ Troubleshooting ] Windows Pairing Issues

There are a few issues that could cause the BTD300 to have trouble pairing to a device, like hardware issues, driver issues, and interference. Follow the guide below to troubelshoot these issues or help determine the cause of the failure.

Pairing

Double-click the device you’re trying to pair, then wait for Windows to complete the pairing process. Confirm or type any pairing codes, if asked. If you are asked for a pairing code for a device like a headset or speaker, and no pairing code has been provided, use “0000” as the pairing code.

Device Conflicts

There may be additional Bluetooth hardware installed that could conflict with the BTD-300.

  1. Click the Start Menu/Start Button.

  2. Type “Device Manager” without the quotes.

  3. Open the Device Manager program when it appears in the search results. If you aren’t able to find it, try holding down the Windows key on the keyboard and typing the letter R. You should see a box named “Run…” In the “Run…” box, type “devmgmt.msc” without the quotes, then click OK.

  4. Expand the “Bluetooth” or “Bluetooth Radios” section of the Device Manager by clicking the small arrow beside it.

  5. You should see Broadcom BCM2070 Bluetooth 3.0 Adapter, and may also see one or more Microsoft Bluetooth Enumerators.

If you see multiple Broadcom devices, or any listings other than Broadcom and Microsoft Bluetooth Enumerator:

Right-click the the Broadcom listing and choose Disable, then do the same thing to the extra listing. Once both adapters have been disabled, right-click Broadcom again and choose Enable to let it restart, then try to pair your device again.

Issues with Windows Services

It’s possible the installer for the BTD-300 did not configure the Bluetooth services correctly. Please try the steps below:

Alternatively, Hold down the Windows key on the keyboard while typing the letter R to get a “Run…” box. In the “Run…” box, type “services.msc” without the quotes and click OK.

  2. Double-click each service and make sure the “Startup Type” option is set to “Automatic”, then click OK.

  3. Restart your computer and try to pair your device again.

Driver Issues on Windows 10

Windows 10 is not compatible with the software that is distributed with the BTD-300. The functionality provided by this software is now provided by Windows 10 itself. Please uninstall the package named “WIDCOMM Bluetooth Software,” then reboot your computer and try to pair again. To remove WIDCOMM Bluetooth Software, follow the steps below:

  1. Click the Start Menu/Start Button.

  2. Choose Control Panel.

  3. Open the control panel named “Programs and Features” or “Uninstall a Program”.

  5. Right-click “WIDCOMM Bluetooth Software” and choose “Uninstall”.

Reboot the computer and try to pair a device to it.

Interference Isues

Bluetooth is a low-energy transmission mode, which makes it fairly easy to interfere with or block. If the BTD-300 is plugged into the back of your computer, try moving it to a front or side port. If you are trying to pair to a device that is under your desk or in another room, try pairing to a closer device to see if it can be found. If you have a Wi-Fi router, cordless phone, baby monitor, or any other wireless devices near the BTD-300, try unplugging or moving them while testing, as they can all be major contributors of 2.4Ghz interference.
